Electronoise Orchestra

Were you paying attention? I wasn't. Back in early 2023, Joe Strutt posted some audio clips and commentary documenting the appearance of The Electronoise Orchestra (a one-off grouping of Mike Hansen, Connor Bennett, Joe Strutt, and William Davison) at the Tranzac in Dec. 2022 (curated by Nilan Perera). At the bottom of the post, some links to videos shot by Mike Filippov were included. I somehow missed these at the time. As Joe mentions, the videos are not embeddable. They're also not searchable in Google, and they are not linked to from Mike Filippov's Vimeo channel. Perhaps these were only intended to be private links. I'm not sure. At any rate, I'm following Joe's lead and posting the links anyway, they're too good not to be shared.

W. David Oliphant

The most recent video from W. David Oliphant ( Maybe Mental , Life Garden , Bastard Kings Of Samedhi , etc.) includes some samples from my "500" album/sample collection! Have a look below: I first heard David's Maybe Mental project sometime in the early 90s (a decade after it had been released) and became an instant fan. However, I knew almost nothing about him and did not follow any of his other projects (although, I was aware of Life Garden). Not surprisingly, Mr. Oliphant has produced a large body of interesting work over the last four decades and a bit. I just didn't know about it. Fortunately, that error has been corrected! David and I have been getting to know each other via email recently and, thanks to his website and Bandcamp, I've been able to explore many of his art and music activities past and present! Despite the challenging band name and album title, this is an excellent album with a retro 70s psychfolk meets filmscore vibe and, dare I say, NWW-ish production touches sprinkled throughout. Masterfully crafted by Michael Somerset Ward with a host of highly skilled musicians and featuring the alluring and captivating voice of Sylwia Anna Drwal.
