Automated Interchange Pileup

Seems like these days I'm just posting about my own projects. I need to get back to what this blog is about which is talking about the best "weird" music and sounds that have been, and are, a part of my life...a personal account of a journey and a humble resource for fellow travelers. Well, I have to say that getting evicted from my apartment and workspace last year certainly was a major upheaval in my life and may have thrown me off my game for a while. And it ain't over yet! My current live/work arrangement is only temporary and there is likely to be an even bigger move toward the end of this year or early 2026.

Anyway, enough about me. No, wait, more about me!

As you may know, I put out a digital album called "500" in January of this year. It's a collection of 500 samples and loops and it has been slowly finding its way into the hands of friends and collaborators. Several albums have already been spawned from this sample collection and there are more in the works. I'm particularly happy to announce this new one from my good friend Hal McGee!

"Automated Interchange Pileup" was released as a digital album on Bandcamp, and a CD-R, on March 1st. It takes a large number of samples from "500" and mixes them, in a largely chance process, with equal amounts of sounds recorded by Hal throughout the month of Feb. 2025. It's part of Hal's ongoing series of dictaphone assemblages which are always chaotic, funny, energetic and inspiring. Real fun stuff in the vein of classic cassette culture! I'm proud to be included.

Check it out here!

Soon (hopefully), I will get back to talking about music other than my own...although, let's face it, I am a fascinating topic of conversation! ;-)
